German renewable energy developer Energiequelle GmbH has sold its French subsidiary, Energiequelle SAS, to French developer and operator H2air. According to the company’s announcement of 23 September 2026, the transaction covers all of the subsidiary’s employees and its existing project portfolio.
A pipeline of around 500 MW
The portfolio transferred to H2air amounts to around 500 MW, of which 60 MW consists of projects in operation or in the pre-construction phase. All Energiequelle SAS staff will move to H2air.
Energiequelle acquired the French business in 2010. Since then, the French team has developed and commissioned more than 27 wind and solar parks with a combined capacity of 266 MW.
Strategic realignment
Energiequelle said it is carrying out a strategic realignment in response to recent difficult conditions in the renewable energy market. As part of this, it decided to hand its French operations to an established regional player and to redirect internal resources to priority markets.
Michael Raschemann, Managing Director of Energiequelle GmbH, said job security for employees and project continuity were priorities in the sale and that H2air was an experienced partner meeting those requirements. He also thanked the French team for its contribution to renewable energy development in France.
H2air targets growth in wind
Roy Mahfouz, founder and President of H2air, said the acquisition fully supports the company’s strategy of strengthening its position in renewable energy in France, particularly in wind.
