TWRE Founder President Sedef Budak, who spoke to TRT Radio and Woman TV within the organization said:
“TWRE is a women’s initiative to increase women’s employment and to ensure that gender equality is established in the energy, infrastructure and construction sector in Turkey. Since 2018, we have brought together nearly 1000 members and we are a group of women who continue to grow and adopt the principles of zero ego and transparency. We provide support and mentoring to students and new graduates for their careers, bringing together valuable women who have gained experience at different levels in the energy sector and young women who are new to the business life and we believe that they are the future of the energy transition. We were very happy and excited when we heard that the Mermaid Sailing Cup brought together female sailors for parallel purposes with us.
The main prize of this competition actually was our contribution to AÇEV as an organization which helps children, parents and young women who are in need, from all around the country, by developing and applying science-based training programs.
We would like to thank all the TWRE Sailing Team for their dedication and effort, who decided and became a licensed sailors recognized by the Sailing Federation in just one month. We would also like to thank Serap Gökçebay, Arzu Çekirge Paksoy and their teams for organizing the event. We are transforming the power of the wind and the power of women into social responsibility also in this national race. We are glad and proud.”
