Goldwind to power Australian recycling plant and gold mine
Goldwind has agreed to supply Australia’s largest plastic recycling plant with power from one of its wind farms.
Its 321MW Moorabool wind farm in Victoria will power Advanced Circular Polymers’ (ACP’s) recycling facility, which opened at the end of June.
Large quantities of low-value contaminated mixed plastics from households will be processed at the plant in Somerton, central Victoria, ACP stated.
Construction started at Moorabool in July 2018. It will consist of 107 Goldwind 136/3000 turbines.
Delivery and installation of the turbines are ongoing. The project is expected to start providing ACP with power in early 2020.
A Goldwind spokeswoman told Windpower Monthly that the power purchase agreement was not for the full output of the wind farm, but would not specify the precise volume.
Goldwind strikes gold
Goldwind has also signed an agreement to build and operate an 18MW wind project in Western Australia that form part of a hybrid microgrid project power the Agnew gold mind.
It will build the five-turbine project in the northern goldfields region of Western Australia as part of a joint venture with Australian engineering firm Nacap.
The project will consist of five of Goldwind’s GW140/3.57MW turbines and to help power Energy Developments’ Agnew mine.
The microgrid site also comprises 4MW of solar, a 13MW/4MWh battery and a 16MW gas engine power station.
Goldwind will also maintain the site during its operational phase.
