APQP4Wind’s consistent quality standards are designed to drive innovation and deliver operational benefits across the wind energy supply chain

• APQP4Wind sets out a quality assurance methodology for the global wind industry

• Member companies collaborate to improve performance and supply chain reliability

• Mobil lubrication solutions are designed to help reduce unscheduled downtime, maintenance costs, and risk for wind turbine operators

ExxonMobil’s Mobil™ brand has joined APQP4Wind, a non- profit organisation founded by leading wind turbine manufacturers and suppliers to champion quality and progress across the industry. Membership of the organisation will see the company collaborating with fellow members on innovations to help reduce downtime and enhance supply chain efficiencies for wind turbine operators worldwide.

“The lack of standardisation in the wind sector continues to be a critical challenge,” said Mr. Kim Nedergaard Jacobsen, General Manager at APQP4Wind. “Without consistent quality guarantees, operators face many risks across the supply chain, affecting machine reliability and availability, and ultimately power output. The APQ4Wind framework has been created to substitute company-specific procedures and set aligned methods for all suppliers. We are delighted to welcome Mobil as members and look forward to leveraging the team’s expertise as we explore new avenues for innovation.”

“APQP4Wind is an important seal of quality for customers seeking reassurance,” said Elisabetta Scossa, Europe Commercial Manager Energy at ExxonMobil Fuels & Lubricants EAME. “As a leading global supplier of lubricants to the wind turbine industry, ExxonMobil endorses the organisation’s support for common quality standards. Our collaboration with APQP4Wind members on product and service innovations will help wind farm operators reduce maintenance costs and enhance equipment efficiency.”

Lubricant formulation plays a critical role in wind turbine performance. To maintain maximum power output, it is essential to reduce unscheduled downtime and avoidable maintenance. This needs to be achieved even in extreme operating conditions where changes in temperature and water contamination could impact lubricant performance.

Mobil has developed a range of lubrication solutions specifically tailored to help wind turbine operators meet their business objectives and address future disruptions.

These include:

• High-performance synthetic oils and greases formulated to protect critical components and enhance wind turbine availability, including Mobil SHC Gear 320 WT, the world’s first gearbox lubricant certified by DNV-GL to not contribute to the oil-related effects of white etching cracking (WEC).

• A full suite of Mobil ServSM services designed to optimise equipment performance and oil drain intervals, including Wind Turbine Gearbox Flush and Fill, start-up and cleanliness guidance, and Mobil Serv Lubricant Analysis.

• Mobil’s comprehensive range of wind turbine solutions are complemented by hands-on guidance and application expertise from the brand’s team of skilled service engineers. They are dedicated to helping wind farm operators reach new levels of productivity – safely and efficiently.
