Center of Clean Energy in Türkiye: ENSİA
The Energy Industrialists and Businessmen Association which set out in July 2016 with the vision of “to transform Turkey into an international center that produces equipment, technology and projects in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency”, has achieved significant success in this direction in the last 6 years.
ENSİA which adopts creating the right information and awareness for the clean energy sector as its main purpose, has 83 Corporate Members as of September 2022, including Turkey’s most powerful companies.
ENSİA’s members create more than 50 thousand employment and continues to create value in different fields with 16 Individual Members and 22 Academic Members.
Collaboration with universities
Our association which has signed cooperation protocols with universities located in Izmir, carries out many studies such as providing engineers and intermediate workforce trained in the sector, and improving internship opportunities.
Our Association which was entitled to receive the “Bronze Label” from the European Secretariat for Cluster Analysis (ESCA) at the beginning of 2022, won the right to apply for grant supports from the European Commission’s COSME (Competitiveness of Enterprises and SMEs) programme with this great success.
Among the most important projects in ENSİA’s corporate structuring in six years is the “BEST For Energy” project, of which we are a stakeholder with the İzmir Development Agency (İZKA). Based on the “clustering” approach BEST For Energy Project, which aims to provide sectoral transformation in Izmir and its surroundings, and to produce clean energy equipment and environmental technologies, covers the years of 2020-2023. With BEST For Energy which was entitled to receive a grant of 3.1 million Euros from the European Commission within the scope of the Competitive Sectors Program of the Ministry of Industry and Technology of Turkey, we aim to increase the investments and exports of our companies, which are in the clean energy chain and want to focus on this field, by improving their capacities.
Study visits to Spain and Denmark
Our visit to Spain in April 2022 with a delegation of 25 people consisting of the representatives of our corporate member companies allowed us to get to know the stage the world has reached especially in offshore wind energy.
This year in October, we will carry out a similar study visit to Denmark, one of the world’s most advanced countries in Clean Energy technologies.
Playing a role in attracting direct investments to Turkey from both our country and different countries of the world, ENSİA conveys its constructive suggestions to public authorities and decision makers.
İzmir is the undisputed capital of the renewable and clean energy sector in Turkey. We do not express this definition only by looking at the installed power figures. It is a city where both renewable energy sources and companies operating in the main and sub-industry are clustered.
From İzmir to Turkey and the World…
Our country’s four wind turbine blade factories are in Izmir. Likewise, five of our country’s 7 wind turbine tower companies operate in Izmir.
Recently, the first R&D center of our country in the wind energy sector started its activities in İzmir. In addition to wind energy, İzmir is a city where many companies operate in the fields of Solar, Geothermal and Biomass.
ENSİA, headquartered in İzmir but gathering members from many cities of Turkey and abroad under its roof, hosts the clustering concept, which our country feels lacking in this field, with great excitement and synergy…
