ENERCON installs Swedish wind energy project Ersträsk
ENERCON is erecting 42 E-126 EP3 WECs in self developed wind farm. 26 E-103 EP2 WECs have already been completed. Project shares sold to renewables investor ‘The Renewables Infrastructure Group Limited’ (TRIG).
ENERCON is making headway in the realisation of the Ersträsk large-scale wind energy project in Sweden. The company is installing 68 WECs with a total capacity of 229.1 MW at the wind farm in the municipality of Piteå, in the Northern Swedish province of Norrbotten. Installation of 26 E-103 EP2 WECs has already been completed. Preparations are currently being made for after the weather-related winter break, when 42 E-126 EP3 WECs will be installed. The entire project is expected to be completed by mid 2020.
While work on installing the wind farm is in progress, the search for an investor has already been brought to a successful conclusion. London-based renewables investor ‘The Renewables Infrastructure Group Limited’ (TRIG) will acquire 75 percent of the project shares with commissioning of the wind energy converters, which will take place in two batches in the first quarters of 2019 and 2020. The partners recently signed an agreement. ‘We are glad to have found a strong and experienced partner for Ersträsk in TRIG that has an interest in joint long-term operation of the wind farm’, says ENERCON Managing Director Hans-Dieter Kettwig.
Sweden is one of ENERCON’s core international markets and will continue to play a significant role in future plans for international business. ENERCON has its own supply chain in Sweden, complete with exclusive production partners and a large Service organisation. It is one of the biggest companies in the Swedish wind energy sector. ‘The Ersträsk project marks another logical and important milestone in the development, implementation and operation of large wind farms in Sweden’, says Hans-Dieter Kettwig. ‘This major project also fits well into ENERCON’s increasing international focus.’ As a result of the decline in market development in Germany, ENERCON has intensified its international activities significantly in recent times.
During this project, ENERCON has been advised by Commerzbank and Lindahl (Stockholm).
