The Board of WindEurope, the voice of Europe’s wind industry, has elected Ørsted CEO Rasmus Errboe as Chair and Enel Green Power CEO Salvatore Bernabei as Vice-Chair. The new leadership will guide the association for the next 18 months.
According to WindEurope’s announcement of 16 September 2026, Alfredo Parres of Hitachi Energy will serve as Vice-Chair of the Management Committee. The association thanked outgoing Chair Henrik Andersen, CEO of Vestas, for his service.
A change at the helm in a record year
The leadership change comes as Europe is set to install a record 24 GW of wind capacity in 2026, enough to supply around 20 million households, according to WindEurope. Key challenges remain, including lengthy permitting, delays in grid infrastructure and uncertainty around the EU’s 2040 renewables target.
Priorities of the new leadership
Incoming Chair Rasmus Errboe underlined Europe’s need for secure, renewable and affordable energy that strengthens competitiveness, supports jobs and drives innovation, calling for faster electrification and grid expansion. Vice-Chair Salvatore Bernabei said he was honoured to take on the role at a pivotal moment for Europe’s competitiveness, industrial resilience and energy security.
