The Generator Manufacturers and Power Systems Association (JENDER), which represents around 85% of Türkiye’s sector, has assessed PowerGen Statistics’ global market data for the second quarter of 2026 together with foreign trade statistics from TurkStat (TÜİK). The figures show that the Turkish generator industry is well positioned in a global demand wave driven by data center investments.

  • The global diesel generator market grew 21% in Q2 2026, setting a quarterly record of USD 7.1 billion.
  • Türkiye’s generator exports reached USD 313.6 million in January–July 2026; the trade surplus of USD 179.5 million was a five-year record.
  • Exports in the 750–2,000 kVA class rose 35% to a record USD 74 million.
  • Turkish generator manufacturers have exported to close to 180 countries over the past five years.

A data center wave in the global market

According to PowerGen Statistics, the global diesel generator market grew 21% year on year in the second quarter of 2026, from USD 5.87 billion to USD 7.09 billion. Growth came mainly from the large power classes: the segment above 2,001 kVA grew 49% and the 751–2,000 kVA segment 21%. Regionally, Eastern Europe grew 47%, Southeast Asia and Oceania 46% and North America 44%, while the commercial and industrial gas generator market rose 35% to USD 2 billion.

“The world has entered a new era of energy security. Data centers growing rapidly with artificial intelligence, hospitals, industrial facilities and critical infrastructure need uninterrupted power more than ever. The fact that almost all of the 21% growth in the global market came from the large power classes is the clearest sign of this. The Turkish generator industry is one of the few countries able to meet this demand with high quality, fast delivery and engineering strength.”

Burak Başeğmezler, Chairman of the Board, JENDER

Exports to close to 180 countries

According to TurkStat data, Türkiye’s generator exports rose 8.6% year on year in the first seven months of 2026 to USD 313.6 million. Diesel generator exports increased 26.7% to USD 278.5 million. With imports down 5%, the sector’s trade surplus reached USD 179.5 million, the highest level in five years, and the export-to-import coverage ratio was 234%.

July exports of USD 52.1 million were the best July performance of the past five years. Exports in the 750–2,000 kVA class rose 35% to USD 74 million, and in the 100–375 kVA class 45% to USD 68.3 million.

“Our members represent around 85% of the sector, and over the past five years we have exported to close to 180 countries. From Ukraine to Central Asia, from North Africa to the Gulf and the European Union, Turkish generators secure the power supply of critical facilities across a wide geography. Increasing our exports to Saudi Arabia by around 50% while the Middle East contracted 30% in the global market shows the resilience and competitiveness of our sector.”

Burak Başeğmezler, Chairman of the Board, JENDER

Target 2027: Europe’s largest generator production base

“Our goal is clear: in 2027 we will make Türkiye Europe’s largest generator production base. Data center, defence and critical infrastructure investments are rising fast in Europe; shifting supply chains to reliable and nearby geographies is no longer a choice but a necessity. With its proximity to Europe, flexible production structure and proven competence in the large power class, Türkiye is the natural address for this transformation. To reach this goal, we need to grow capacity investments in the high power class, R&D, localisation and skilled human resources together.”

An export record expected in 2026

According to JENDER’s projection based on TurkStat data, if the average seasonal trend of the past four years holds, the sector’s exports are expected to reach around USD 577 million by the end of 2026. This would mean an increase of around 14% on 2025 and would exceed the 2022 peak of USD 561.4 million.

“We expect to close 2026 as an export record year for our sector and to move steadily towards our goal of becoming Europe’s leading generator production center in 2027,” Başeğmezler said.

International cooperation

JENDER strengthens the global representation of the Turkish generator industry through its seat on the EUROPGEN Board, its sister association relationship with EGSA (USA), and the international cooperation memorandum reached in September 2026 with EGSA (USA), EUROPGEN (Europe) and AMPS (United Kingdom). Through a vocational education protocol signed with the Ministry of National Education, the association also works to meet the sector’s need for skilled human resources.

Founded on 16 May 2024, JENDER brings together leading manufacturers of the sector such as AKSA, EMSA, TEKSAN and İŞBİR.
