Cable reliability starts inside the wind turbine

Wind turbine cables operate under continuous movement, torsion, vibration and changing climatic conditions. Üntel Kablo applies its industrial and energy-sector experience to cable solutions developed for these demanding operating environments.

As wind turbines become more technically complex, cable systems play an increasingly important role in maintaining reliable power, control, signal and communication functions.

Inside a turbine, cables are exposed to mechanical movement, torsional forces, vibration, temperature changes, UV radiation and, depending on the application, oils and chemicals. Cable selection therefore depends not only on electrical capacity, but also on mechanical resistance and suitability for long-term operation.

From nacelle to grid connection

Üntel Kablo develops cable solutions for different sections of the turbine, including the nacelle, tower and power transmission infrastructure.

Within the nacelle, cables support low-voltage power distribution, control systems, sensor communication, data transmission and automation. In the tower, they provide power and control connections between the turbine and transformer while supporting monitoring and communication functions.

The company’s wind energy portfolio includes torsion-resistant and fixed-installation power cables, low-voltage rubber and halogen-free cables, medium-voltage cables, control and signal cables, shielded control cables and cables for internal installations and panels.

Designed for continuous mechanical stress

Wind turbine cabling must withstand repeated mechanical loads throughout its operating life.

Üntel develops application-specific cables considering vibration and torsion, temperature variations, UV exposure, electromagnetic interference and contact with chemicals or oils.

The company states that its wind energy cable solutions are supported by testing in its accredited laboratories and production processes approved by TÜV Rheinland.

With nearly half a century of manufacturing experience and a portfolio exceeding 25,000 products, Üntel Kablo also supplies demanding applications in oil and gas, offshore and onshore energy, petrochemical, mining and heavy industry.

This experience is increasingly being transferred to wind energy projects, where reliable power and data transmission depends on components designed to perform under constant movement and changing environmental conditions.
